Is my company definitely dormant?
Dormancy depends on the company’s transactions during the reporting period, and the public register cannot show those — we cannot see the company’s bank account. We check what the register does show (company type, status, earlier accounts), and before you approve or pay the filing page asks four questions and stops if dormant accounts are not right. If you are unsure, ask us before paying.
What do I need to have ready?
Your company number, reporting period, share capital details, approving director’s name and the company’s 6-character authentication code. If you need a new code, Companies House posts it to the registered office; allow up to 10 working days.
What does the price include?
Preparation, your review, submission, follow-up and corrections or resubmission if needed. One company and one reporting period. Confirmation statements and HMRC tax returns are separate.
Can I file the accounts myself?
Yes. Companies House’s own free online service takes dormant accounts until 1 April 2028. Our fee covers preparing and submitting the accounts for you, with review and support along the way.
What if the filing is rejected?
We help correct and resubmit it at no extra charge. If we cannot get the accounts accepted, we refund the filing fee. You can also request a full refund before submission. See our refund policy for the details.
I received a letter. Are you Companies House?
